FAQs

Question: What is Vedic (vey-dik) astrology and how is it different from Western astrology?
Vedic astrology is said to be more than 5,000 years old, and is the source of all astrology, whether Chinese, Egyptian, Greek, or Western.

Whereas most astrology deals primarily with the personality traits of people, Vedic astrology deals more with life events and the timing of those events, such as whether a person will marry or not, and whether or not they will have children. Vedic astrology deals with practical issues such as health, career, income, education, children, marriage, family life, relationships, etc.

Question: How did you first become attracted to Vedic astrology?

I first visited a Vedic astrologer in 1988, and was very impressed when he asked whether my mother had died when I was born, or whether she had just left me somewhere.

The astrologer was a total stranger to me, so I was shocked that he knew there was a problem with my mother. (On the day I was born, my mother had given me up for adoption!)

For me it was a revelation that he could see something so real and personal, simply by looking at the mathematical numbers and planetary abbreviations known as a horoscope.

After the reading that day, I decided that I needed to learn this knowledge so that I would not have to visit an astrologer every six to twelve months to know what was going on in my life.

Question: Should leaders and wealthy people use astrology?

Answer: Yes. Everyone has heard of stories about Nancy and Ronald Reagan using astrology, and there is also a great story about the wealthy industrialist, J.P. Morgan who was seen leaving the home of Evangeline Adams, a well-known astrologer.

A reporter confronted Mr. Morgan and asked him if astrology was for millionaires, to which he replied, “No, astrology is for billionaires”.

Vedic astrology was originally used by the kings, queens and royal persons of India. Every court had an astrologer, which is why it is known as “Raj Vidya”, (kingly knowledge).

Vedic astrololgy was used to help the kings know when to go to war, and when to stay home; when to plant crops, and when to arrange the marriage of their sons and daughters, etc.

Interestingly, the kings and queens also used precious gemstones such as rubies, diamonds, pearls, emeralds, corals and sapphires in their crowns, rings and pendants, to give them wisdom, courage, patience, health, strength, compassion and even longevity of life.

Question: How can the average person use Vedic astrology in their daily lives?

It is very helpful for us to know how the planets are operating in our charts. By knowing the true strength and weaknesses of the planets, we can understand where the obstructions have been coming from and then we can start to make adjustments to improve our lives.

My experience, having read more than 14,000 charts for clients in 35 countries since 1988, is that most of us are going through life with three or four planets that are like “flat tires” on our bus of life. Or, another way to put it is that we do not really know where the “drafts” in our lives are coming from. We continue to have difficulty getting where we want to go, or we constantly have the same problems over and over again.

When someone visits an astrologer, there are three questions to ask:

  1. HOW are the planets operating in my chart?
  2. WHEN will they show their results? And,
  3. WHAT can I do to improve my life?

Once you have these answers, you can put the air back into your “tires”, and fix the “drafts” in your life. It is like watering the root of the tree – and everything gets better over time. There is an improvement in your mental and physical health, relationships with others, career and income, and a certain ease and peace of mind.

Question: Do all the planets represent the same significations in every chart?

No. There is a functional nature to the planets, which changes for each of the 12 rising signs. In one person’s chart, Saturn IS a malefic influence causing grief, isolation, selfishness, health issues, impatience, distrust and deathlike experiences. Whereas in another person’s chart, Saturn represents truthfulness, hard work, humility, helping others, public service, and longevity of life.

This is why it is important to understand whether the planets are operating in your chart as functional malefic planets, causing obstructions and disappointments; or whether they are operating as functional benefic planets, with the capacity to provide good results for the individual.

From the astrological perspective, we see that all setbacks, calamities, and misfortunes in life are caused by the weak, badly placed, and afflicted functional benefic planets.

Once we know how the planets are operating, we can then begin to use the proper remedies.

Question: What kind of remedies does Vedic astrology offer to improve lives?

There are basically two kinds of remedies. One, you can do charitable deeds to reduce the impact of the malefic planets; and, two, you can strengthen the benefic planets to add protective covering to life.

For example, if Saturn is a malefic planet in your chart, you can help the poor and the needy on Saturdays, or give donations to a charity on Saturday; you can also avoid wearing brown, black or dull colors or using those colors in your home and work space.

On the other hand, if Saturn is a functional benefic planet in your chart, you can wear a dark blue sapphire gemstone and have dark blue colors around you, such as wearing blue clothing and sunglasses, and having blue colors in you home and workplace, for walls, sheets, paintings, bedspreads, etc.

Question: In addition to charts for the individual, can you also do charts for marriages, corporations, partnerships, etc.?

Yes. At any given point in time, there is a chart for that moment. For example, when someone marries, or starts a new company, or is sworn in as president of the United States, there is a chart for that exact moment, as though a new baby is being born.

This is why it is important to consult with an astrologer for the best time to start any activity – such as getting married, buying a house, starting a new business – to ensure maximum positive results. In this way, the marriage will last, the investment pays off, and the business is a success.

You can also see when this has not been done. For example, the astrologer can look at the charts where there has been a divorce, investment loss, business bankruptcy, etc., and clearly see the event was started at an inauspicious time.

The astrologer can also look at charts for the moment of earthquakes, plane crashes, wars, etc., and these calamities can be easily seen. And yes, when traveling, it is a good idea to check the chart for the moment the plane departs to be sure the trip will be safe and smooth.

The astrologer can also do suitability readings to let people know if prospective spouses, partners, employees, etc., have good charts to support these endeavors, or if they need remedial measures for better results in life.

Question: Can anyone learn Vedic astrology?

Yes. There are only four elements in astrology: 1. The houses. 2. The signs. 3. The planets. 4. The timing of events, or planetary periods.

It took me many years of study – reading more than one hundred books, and listening to thousands of hours of audiotapes from courses and seminars — to master this field.

Now, with the books I offer on my website, anyone can learn the basics in just a few months. And if they practice these basics consistently for about a year, they will become a very competent astrologer.  And, over time, the person can become a professional astrologer, helping other understand their horoscopes.

Question: What do you say to those who do not believe in astrology, or to those who do not think astrology is really a science?

I do not debate with others on the subject. I simply know that my own chart precisely reveals my innermost character and actual life events, such as being given up for adoption at birth, divorce, and difficulties for my children.

I also know that many great people in history have used astrology, including the famous psychologist, C.G. Jung, who wrote a well-published letter on the subject to the equally famous astrologer, Dr. B.V. Raman in India, confessing his confidential use of astrology for his most difficult cases and clients.

Personally, I have had very good results with this knowledge. The vast majority of my clients tell me the readings are accurate, relevant, and helpful. (Of the 14,000 readings I have done, less than 12 people have come back to me with some complaint!)

People know when you are speaking the truth. In my opinion, Vedic astrology is a divine science, and lets you see into the past, the present, and the future.

IMPORTANT NOTE:   Note all astrologers are so lucky or capable.  I rely on the Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology as developed by Professor V.K. Choudhry of Gurgaon, India — who, in my opinion, is one of the world’s leading professors of Vedic astrology.  The Systems’ Approach paradigm is based on the empirical studies of classical principles of Vedic astrology with changes “mutatis mutandis” — and which is now being studied and used by more than 800 Vedic astrologers worldwide.

Systems’ Approach to Vedic Astrology takes the guesswork, intuition, and contradictory principles out of the horoscope reading and provides accurate, relevant, practical and REPLICABLE readings.

Those studying and practicing Systems’ Approach will be tomorrow’s leading astrologers.

I invite you to study Systems’ Approach to better understand your own horoscope and to be of service to your family, friends, and all those you meet who are impelled by Divine Grace to make their way to this knowledge.
